Cord is an international peacebuilding organisation helping people affected by violent conflict.

Violent conflict forces people to flee their homes, to seek refuge. It breaks up families and communities, disrupts and destroys lives, livelihoods, societies and economies.

Countries that have suffered violent conflict often lack the structures and ability to move forwards in a non-violent way. All too often recourse to violence cancels out development progress made creating a cycle of poverty and conflict.

Not just development
Cord is currently working in Africa and Asia. Many of our programmes contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals but are also focused on addressing the root causes of conflict. Peacebuilding enables governments, regional and community structures to take ownership and develop their own processes, knowledge and experience.

Our partners hold the keys to peace
Our in-country staff teams work with local partner organisations on a long term basis to develop their capacity to deal with conflict non-violently in order to lead their own development.

With over four decades of experience working in 26 countries Cord is motivated by the Christian faith but works with people of all faiths or none.
